There are over ninety groups in the Lancaster and Morecambe u3a and many of them are planning celebrations to mark the 35th anniversary of its founding.

Some are already in action – the six various Walking Groups, from the Hard who tackle the magnificent Lakeland Fells to the Amblers who walk the shores of Morecambe Bay, are marking their various walks with thirty-five photos of trig points reached along the way.

The Nordic Walking Group has entered the challenge, not for the faint hearted, of the Cross Bay Walk on the 30th of June – the actual foundation day thirty-five years ago.

The Happy Feet Latin Dance Group are going to surprise unsuspecting shoppers with a Flash Mob in the city centre.
One of the Photography Groups has dug out a 1989 Olympus Trip camera and members are taking turns to produce thirty-five photos of the district.

The combined Music Groups are busy rehearsing for a concert to be given later in the year. The Exploring Food group are putting together and testing menus from 35 years ago – Prawn Cocktail and Black Forest Gateaux anyone?
All the above, and many more in the pipeline, will have their events and challenges recorded in a display at the two October Monthly Meetings.
