Barbara Cordina shares a visit to Brightlingsea u3a in October, when she was still Trustee of the East of England.
I had the pleasure of joining Brightlingsea members at their meeting on 6 October in their regular venue.
This is one of our smaller u3as with about 140 members, and I found it charming. I very much enjoyed chatting with everyone. They hold two face to face meetings every month, one with a speaker and the other when members have the opportunity to join groups and make new friends. Attendance numbers at both are unusually high.
I spoke to some members who take a short bus ride to attend the meetings, they do have a closer u3a but much prefer the small size and friendliness of Brightlingsea.
This u3a is clearly embedded in the local community and are to be congratulated on their involvement in local events. They are at the moment planning their entry in the town Christmas Tree competition in which they are involved every year.
Congratulations to the committee who are successfully offering many opportunities to their members, and to the members for their support.
