At a group meeting last year, we asked members what additional Interest Groups they would like. The members were then questioned to ascertain interest in each suggestion - there were 23 suggestions and interest varied from 30+ down to one only!
The Committee suggested I focus on the two "most voted for" ideas. "Trips" and "Garden Interest" were the focus, but as with many associations, finding leaders has been very difficult. This is probably because of the extra responsibility. I tried to organise a preliminary visit to the Carpet Museum in Kidderminster for a talk and museum tour, but that flopped because the date clashed with other groups meeting on that date. I am now proposing a visit to a local garden centre; let's see how that develops? I can only keep trying!
A request for a Bridge Group has been unsuccessful, because we only have 3 players. However, after 2 preliminary meetings, a small, but enthusiastic, Genealogy Group was formed in January with joint group leaders. The first official meeting of our Genealogy took place on 15 February. From a group of six people who attended the first exploratory meeting at the end of last year, the group has already reached a membership of 14 by the time of this first meeting. Success at last!
