News from the International Committee - September

22 September 2020

Chair of the International Committee, Auriol Ainley, gives an update on what the International Committee have been up to over the last month.

The International Committee are now concentrating on establishing contact details links with similar senior groups ‘sur le continent’ who wish to liaise virtually or email with our members to improve their language skills, and vice versa. This also includes other subjects like art, history, culture. Early days – but the International Committee is on the case.

Last Sunday saw the return of the Danube Networkers, which I attend each fortnight-  please do log into Sources to see regular updates. One positive side of Covid-19 has been that seniors across Europe and worldwide have adapted to virtual meetings, and it is great to be able to talk with our neighbours in Europe about how they are all dealing with lockdown and its various complications.

Ulm u3a organises the video link called simply Coming Together, and the various countries involved produce short presentations on their culture, history, customs, crafts, music and dance – and it is all in English to enable all countries to understand.  But translators are available if required. What is more, full recordings are available on their YouTube channel – details of that will follow, or contact the International Committee directly.

We are looking forward to taking this positive idea to fruition!!! And your input will be very welcome.
